At least there were fireworks
We had an ESS party on the 4th of July...complete with hot dogs, apple pie, and sparklers (they call them fireworks...but I know better). Believe it or not, it was the most festive Independence Day I've had in years. Last year came in a close second...Jess B. and I spent all night jogging through traffic to try to get to the fireworks on time, but we only got to hear them.
After a crazy week and a crazy cookout, I had a crazy sleepover. Six students and I stayed up until all hours of the night teaching each other card games and laughing...and not getting much sleep. So after brief bowling and purikura, we called it a day. Now I am going to take a nap until it all starts over again tomorrow...

Cassie dearest how I love you and your writing style. I miss you terribly and I know that you have probably grown and changed so much in the past year. Your writing always balances such humor and maturity at the same time that I'm jealous. I'll be glad to have you stateside and I empathesize with your feelings of having to leave behind a world that you love. At least you can know that there are people on either side of the planet who love and adore you. Me being one of them. Enjoy your last weeks in Japan and cherish each moment which has changed you for good.
